How is it beneficial to a leading business to support the work & mission of a not-for-profit org?
How is it beneficial to a leading business in a particular community to support the work and mission of a not-for-profit?
And the importance of having organizations in your community committed to human service and not to a "profit" or bottom line.

It's beneficial because the organisation gets credit for being community aware. They are seen in a favourable light, they often get good media coverage and none of that can do much wrong to their financial bottom line either.
Once could also take the other angle and suggest it's beneficial because the recipients (not for profit orgs) get much needed finance/manpower which is required even more today given that many governments have taken a much more market driven view of the forces that impact the community. That is, they don't support such organisations as much as they once might have done.
